DBison Privacy Statement

In short: DBison has no accounts, no telemetry and no analytics. What you do in
it stays on your computer, apart from the connections you open yourself and the
update check described below.

What stays on your computer

  - Connection profiles, saved queries, query history, the workspace layout and
    settings are stored in DBison's data folder on your computer.
  - Passwords you choose to save are protected with your operating system's
    secure storage where it is available.
  - DBison keeps a log file of errors and app events, to help diagnose problems.
    It never leaves your computer unless you send it to someone yourself. It
    does not record passwords, but it can contain host names, file paths and
    parts of error messages returned by your databases.

Network connections DBison makes

  - To the database servers and SSH hosts you configure, when you connect to
    them. What is sent is what your queries and actions require.
  - To check for updates: when it starts and about once an hour, DBison
    requests the update manifest from its release storage, hosted on
    DigitalOcean Spaces in Frankfurt, Germany, and downloads updates from
    there. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to the host. The
    request identifies your platform and processor architecture and may
    include the installed DBison version.
  - Links you open from DBison are handed to your web browser.
  - "Support on Ko-fi" opens DBison's Ko-fi page in your web browser. A tip,
    and any payment or contact details you enter there, are handled by Ko-fi
    and its payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal) under their own
    privacy policies; DBison never receives them.
  - Crypto addresses are shown in the app with a QR code, drawn on your
    computer, for you to copy or scan. "Open in wallet" hands a bitcoin:
    payment link to the wallet app installed on your computer. DBison
    contacts no blockchain or payment service for any of this.

DBison does not send your queries, results, schemas, files or connection details
anywhere else, and it contains no advertising or tracking code.

Backup and restore run the database tools you point DBison at (such as pg_dump
or mysqldump) on your computer, with the connection's settings.
